Waiting

Posted on January 16, 2025 by Pam R

But those who wait for the Lord [who expect, look for, and hope in Him]
Will gain new strength and renew their power;
They will lift up their wings [and rise up close to God]

like eagles [rising toward the sun];
They will run and not become weary,
They will walk and not grow tired.
Isaiah 40:31 Amplified Bible

Waiting on God requires the willingness to bear uncertainty,
to carry within oneself the unanswered question,
lifting the heart to God about it whenever it intrudes upon one’s thoughts.

Elisabeth Elliot

Wait for and confidently expect the Lord;
Be strong and let your heart take courage;
Yes, wait for and confidently expect the Lord.
Psalm 27:14 Amplified Bible

“The waiting is not a waste of time.
The waiting is part of the journey.”
Lysa TerKeurst

The Lord is good to those who wait [confidently] for Him,
To those who seek Him [on the authority of God’s word].
Lamentations 3:25 Amplified Bible

If the Lord Jehovah makes us wait, let us do so with our whole hearts;
for blessed are all they that wait for Him. He is worth waiting for.
The waiting itself is beneficial to us:
it tries faith, exercises patience, trains submission,
and endears the blessing when it comes.
The Lord’s people have always been a waiting people.

Charles Spurgeon

I wait [patiently] for the Lord, my soul [expectantly] waits,
And in His word do I hope.
Psalm 130:5 Amplified Bible

Waiting is part of the process of becoming what God wants us to be.
John Ortberg

For from days of old no one has heard, nor has ear perceived,
Nor has the eye [a]seen a God besides You,
Who works and acts in behalf of the one who [gladly] waits for Him.
Isaiah 64:4 Amplified Bible

Teach us, O Lord, the disciplines of patience,
for to wait is often harder than to work.
Peter Marshall

But as for me, I will wait and hope continually,
And will praise You yet more and more.
Psalm 71:14 Amplified Bible
