Ten thousand flowers in spring, the moon in autumn,
a cool breeze in summer, snow in winter.
If your mind isn’t clouded by unnecessary things,
this is the best season of your life.
“Ten Thousand Flowers in Spring” by Wu-Men

Oh, but Lord, my mind is clouded by “unnecessary things.” My space is crowded with stuff, and my thoughts with schemes to deal, store, keep, my stuff. And grief haunts the edge of awareness as I contemplate letting memories, keepsakes, – history – go.
Yet …
I ask, “Does it spark joy?” (Thanks, Marie Kondo) No. It sparks anxiety. It sparks urgency. It sparks frustration. Discouragement. Unnecessary feelings.
I will deal with stuff-overload. I will take time to do the hard things, make the hard choices. And I will remember to look past the clutter at the beauty all around me: the flowers, breeze, moon, snow.
Because God is in those things. He alone makes this the best season of my life. Not the stuff. Not any of it.
“Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now,
and don’t get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow.
God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes.
