In the days before the return to Standard time, it is not unusual for me to be up before dawn. As I drew back the drapes on a clear, cold morning with the faintest hint of light in the east, I was delighted to see the morning star, bright, beautiful, and peaceful. A quick google search identified it as Venus. I was surprised at how happy it made me feel.
But day came, and the star became faint until it was finally gone.
Wait! Did I say gone? It wasn’t gone; I just couldn’t see it. A greater light had taken over the sky. As a child I would look up at blue sky and think that the stars were all still there, that nothing that happened on earth could change that. For some reason, I found that comforting.
Jesus is the Bright Morning Star. (Revelation 22:16 The Voice) The Lord of the Universe is our promise of better things to come.
He is also “the Sun of Righteousness, rising with healing in His wings.” (Malachi 4:2 The Living Bible). The Lord of the Universe is making all things right. And it is already happening! He is already here!
So, for today:
Arise [from the depression and prostration
in which circumstances have kept you—rise to a new life]!
Shine (be radiant with the glory of the Lord), for your light has come,
and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you!
