There is never a time when I don’t have an “earworm” in my head, a peppy piece of music that loops through your mind even after it is no longer being played or spoken about. This phenomenon has been studied since 1885, and research has shown that 97% of us experience them.
Most of the time I hardly notice it, and, if there isn’t a real one, I find that I make a random one up. But I draw the line when I find myself channeling the background music from a video game.
Various “cures” are suggested, among which is chewing gum. For me, since I hate chewing gum, the answer is to replace one earworm with a better one.
This is my current cure.
Now my earworm serves to remind me of truth. And it’s no longer annoying. Thank You, Father!
Lovely replacement for the earworm. Thanks!
