Last fall, my niece, Amy, upset about the political climate, decided she needed something to look forward to.
“I’m going to take a Disney cruise,” she told her mother.
“Well, don’t expect me to go with you,” Mary replied. “I hate boats.”
“I’m going to ask Aunt Pam,” said Amy.
Turns out Aunt Pam loves boats.
So, this afternoon I will board Amtrak, spend a couple of days at Disneyland, and take a 3-day cruise that docks in Mexico. All paid for by my generous niece.
Because Wi-Fi is spotty on the train, and expensive on the boat, I won’t be posting until I get back. Instead, I will be enjoying this time with my niece, very aware that opportunities like this – gifts from God, really – don’t come along every day. I didn’t look for it, I didn’t expect it, I didn’t even dream of it, but here it is. God is so good.

Whatever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to us from God our Father,
who created all the lights in the heavens.
He never changes or casts a shifting shadow.
James 1:17 NLT

Above all else, know this:
Be prepared at all times for the gifts of God
and be ready always for new ones.
For God is a thousand times more ready to give than we are to receive.
Meister Eckhart
What a wonderful surprise!
Have a great time!
