Jesus had no clock or calendar in the wilderness. No appointments to keep. No responsibilities to discharge. Nowhere else He had to be. Nothing to do except be present with His Father. Does that sound as good to you as it does to me?
Sometimes it seems that our whole world has gone Through the Looking Glass:
It seems funny, but it is not.
That is scary. Are we literally running ourselves to death? But there is so much to do.
Who will do it if we don’t? And how will it get it done if we don’t hurry?
Besides, Hurry makes us feel important. (John Ortberg)
“Slow down. Take a deep breath. What’s the hurry?
Why wear yourself out? Just what are you after anyway?
Jeremiah 2:25a The Message
One of the great illusions of our time is that hurrying will buy us more time. John Ortberg
When we try to juggle everything, we can’t enjoy anything. (unknown)
The present moment is where we live.
The present moment is where we meet God.
If we don’t slow down, be still and listen,
the noise of ‘not enough’ will steer us away from the beauty and mystery of right now.

Give yourself permission to “slow down” by:
*Choosing the slower lane or the longer line.
*Prioritizing your rest and sleep.
*Accepting your limitations. There is no shame in slowing down and taking care of yourself.
*Recognizing and limiting things that cause you to become anxious and speed up: cell phones, email, etc.
*Receiving interruptions graciously.
*Taking the time to notice the things that other people are overlooking.
Slowing is the antidote to “hurry, scurry, worry.”
When you feel the need to hurry, remember that everything in life is a choice.
Jonathan Lockwood Huie
All this hurrying soon will be over.
Only when we tarry do we touch the holy.
Rainer Maria Rilke
