“September―where fall and summer meet.”
Will Wallace Harney
I used to know what September was: the start of school, crisp, cooler days, high school football games, the smell and feel of autumn leaves underfoot. Nowadays, school starts mid-August, warm temperatures linger into October and leaves cling to their trees until late November. Yet September remains nostalgic. Or maybe we just do.
“Nostalgia—that’s the Autumn,
Dreaming through September
Just a million lovely things
I always will remember.”
Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis
One thing, though, remains the same in September. I just spotted the first sign of modern autumn:
“Pumpkin-spice!” This time it was Oreos. Who knows what’s next? The possibilities are endless!

My family, my joys, my sorrows. For all that made me stronger.”
