I’m in a rocky place right now. The cats, post-op, are not eating well and need a lot of lap time. The worry and stressing are causing a Chronic Fatigue flare – I get dizzy whenever I move my head. I want to be a fountain of tenderheartedness, but right now the cats are soaking it all up. I have nothing left to give. It is time for some self-compassion. (PR)
This is a moment of suffering.
Suffering is part of life.
May I be kind to myself in this moment.
May I give myself the compassion I need.
Kristen Neff, PHD, Self-Compassion
Self-compassion is a more effective motivator that self-criticism
because its driving force is love, not fear.
Kristen Neff
Be kind to yourself.
People who have self-compassion are happier, more optimistic,
and less likely to be depressed or anxious.
K. D. Neff, The Science of Self-Compassion
You cannot speak that which you do not know.
You cannot share that which you do not feel.
You cannot translate that which you do not have.
And you cannot give that which you do not possess.
To give it and share it, and for it to be effective, you first need to have it.
Good communication starts with good preparation.
