The heavens are telling the glory of God; they are a marvelous display of his craftsmanship. 2 Day and night they keep on telling about God. 3-4 Without a sound or word, silent in the skies, their message reaches out to all the world. The sun lives in the heavens where God placed it 5 and moves out across the skies as radiant as a bridegroom going to his wedding, or as joyous as an athlete looking forward to a race! 6 The sun crosses the heavens from end to end, and nothing can hide from its heat. (Living Bible)
Look up! God’s glory is written in the heavens. Night and day are His silent messengers. The only way for anyone to miss His glory is to refuse to look.
Look around! By the light of the sun, we can see. Yes, it is the middle of winter. Yes, the sky is mostly gray with a rare glimpse of blue. Maybe we feel a little depressed. But the sun still comes up every day, bringing life-giving light. Just exactly as God has ordained it. Not once has the sun failed to rise.
Just as God is there, whether we’re looking for Him or not. Whether we feel Him or not. No amount of refusing to look can change that.
The sun not only gives light and nurtures life. The sun’s energy travels outward: toward us. Exposure to sunlight can enhance mood, relieve stress, improve sleep. It is a natural disinfectant.
Just as God gives light and life. Whose love-energy flows toward us. Who can lift our mood, relieve our stress, improve our sleep – if we let Him. Who is the only disinfectant from the stains of sin.
The glory of God is above us, around us – and in us. How shall we respond, then? How can we deny this truth?
A man can no more diminish God’s glory by refusing to worship Him than a lunatic can put out the sun by scribbling the word, ‘darkness’ on the walls of his cell. C. S. Lewis
My day just got better.
And you just made mine!
