For most of this summer, it has been too hot, too humid, too rainy to open our windows. We spent the days – and nights – in conditioned air. But yesterday was different. For the first time in a long time, we opened all the windows and let in the breeze. It was a delicious treat, cool and refreshing.

Set wide the window. Let me drink the day.

I have windchimes hanging in the front and back of my house. But I can only hear their song when the windows are open. I had forgotten how they sound as they dance in the breeze. Then there is the intermittent buzzing of cicadas, the voices and laughter of people walking by, bird song and the distant thrum of traffic as people going about their day. I can only hear these with open windows.
How restful it is to watch the busy birds and squirrels as fluffy white clouds drifted majestically overhead. A totally lovely day.

Ears to hear and eyes to see—
both are gifts from the Lord.

It was one of those very few perfect summer days. And the forecast indicates that it will be like this all week.
Yippee!

Oh, magnify the Lord with me,
and let us exalt his name together!
