v 10 Sometimes desires have to wait for opportunity, whether we like it or not.
v 11-13 The only way I can think of to learn contentment in every situation is to experience “every situation.” Not “every” situation possible, but the specific ones God chooses to teach and grow us. The bottom line is to learn, without a doubt, that our strength – our ability – is through Christ, not ourselves.
I used to think that “content” meant resigned. But a quick online Thesaurus search includes the words contented, blessed. “Filled with satisfaction” as one preacher said…
v 14-20 Caring for the needs of others: “a fragrant offering, an acceptable sacrifice, pleasing to God.” And God cares for us in return. Charity reframed: blessing, cause for great praise and the difference between righteousness and unrighteousness. See the Parable of the Sheep and Goats, Matthew, 25:34-40 NIV https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matthew+25%3A+34+-+40&version=NIV
v 21-23 One final love-message, and a benediction. May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with each of us, too. Amen.
