Imitating Christ’s Humility
v 1-2: In other words, if Christ has blessed you with His encouragement, comfort, Spirit, and tender compassion (as He most certainly has), share those things joyfully and willingly with those around you in unity, love, spirit, mind and purpose. Imagine then what the Church would be like!
v 3-4: Selfish ambition (desire for personal advancement), and conceit (excessively favorable opinion of oneself) both destroy unity and tear relationships apart. The only possible antidote is humility (a modest or low view of one’s own importance). Humility is Christlike; measured against Him there is no other response but humility. And if each looks at the other as above, then all are looked up to, and no one is looked down on.
Lord, make me aware of Your blessings in my own life. I so often forget what you have done in me. Then use me to bless others as You have blessed me. I’m pretty sure that is why I am here. For Your sake alone. Amen
