Peace

Posted on October 21, 2021October 20, 2021 by Pam R

But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives:
love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
There is no law against these things! Galatians 5:22-23 New Living Translation

**********

We are inclined to think of Peace as the absence of conflict, internal or external – or both. But Biblical peace is more than that, encompassing the ideas of “wholeness” and “living well.” It can include personal health, social harmony, prosperity, and victory over difficulties.

One of the Biblical names of God is Yahweh-Shalom, which means “The Lord is Peace.”

The Lord gives his people strength. The Lord blesses them with peace. Psalm 29:11 NLT

I listen carefully to what God the Lord is saying, for he speaks peace to his faithful people. Psalm 85:8a NLT

One of the Biblical names of Christ is Prince of Peace.

I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.” John 16:33 NLT

Now may the Lord of peace himself give you his peace at all times and in every situation. The Lord be with you all.
2 Thessalonians 3:16 NLT

God freely and generously gives us His peace. Our job is to let Him – and to return to the Source of Peace when we find ourselves running on empty.
And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful. Colossians 3:15 NLT

Only then can we be peace-bringers in this agitated world.
“Blessed [spiritually calm with life-joy in God’s favor] are the makers and maintainers of peace, for they will [express His character and] be called the sons of God. Matthew 5:9 Amplified Bible

And the wise are peace-makers who go on quietly sowing for a harvest of righteousness—in other people and in themselves. James 3:17-18 J.B. Phillips New Testament

Be at peace: God is still Yahweh-Shalom!
