Just spent 1 year in a program that actually works. Self hate is not part of it. Self hate is demoralizing. Finding the real root problem is one factor that needs to be addressed, spiritual, emotional, physical, etc – there are several possible factors and groups of factors.. Do we have trauma in our backgrounds that fostered eating as a calm us down or a make us feel better. Addressing that with the Lord and with good counseling is important. Another factor is gaining knowledge of how food actually works. How God made it to work. How, with your current eating patterns you can change portion sizes and still feel satiated as the pounds slowly go off. By the end of the year I know when I am falling off the wise table onto the foolish table and can nip it quickly with reminders from that lovely scale. I thank God for this approach that actually fosters feelings of empowerment.
