In a book I am reading, the Bible study leader asks the group, “What is your favorite Scripture or Bible story?”
I had to think. What are mine? There are so many. But I finally came down to the two verses on my kitchen wall.
For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord.
They are plans for good and not for evil,
to give you a future and a hope.
Jeremiah 29:11 Living Bible
And,
And we know that all that happens to us is working for our good
if we love God and are fitting into his plans.
Romans 8:28 Living Bible
Old Testament and New Testament. “I know,” and “we know.” “Plans for good,” and “working for our good.” God is actively working good for us in “all that happens.” All. Even the bad stuff. Maybe especially in the “bad stuff.” He has promised, and He keeps His promises. There is hope. There is a future. His plans are for our good even right now. Because He said so.
So, I am safe, trusting these amazing promises and the One who made them. Safe, even in the bad stuff.
