I woke that morning with a choice to make. After many days of cold, rainy weather, alternating with hot humid weather, a day finally dawned that was cool enough to work in the garden without freezing or sweating. Would I go out, or would I procrastinate? But the weeds were taking over, so I decided to get dressed and deal with them. And there were gray clouds to the west – maybe more rain?
I was hard at work when a neighbor walked by. We exchanged a few words about the nice morning, then she asked, “Did you see the rainbow?”
Rainbow? Sure enough, there against the dark western clouds was a faint rainbow. All I could say was, “God is good!”
I always look for rainbows in the east when the sun comes out after a storm, but I wouldn’t think to look for a rainbow to the west. Especially when I am wholly fixated on the task in front of me.
So, I wonder: what other gifts, what other Glories, have I missed because I was focused only on my problems?
