The sun rose at 7:23 AM – and so did I. Opening the curtains to the west, I noticed that the weather station on the wall was predicting rain. The western sky agreed. How disappointing. But when I opened the eastward curtains I got a surprise. There was a blossoming sunrise of pink and gold. It was hard not to view that as a heavenly gift just for me.
Later, when I went to get breakfast, I paused. Outside the western window the maple was in its autumnal glory.
What a mood-lifter! I have always been a sucker for fall’s bright colors against a blue, blue sky!
I think God is pleased when we see what He is doing around us. I think He intentionally places little delights for us to notice.
And I don’t have to feel strong or be well to enjoy them. I just have to open my eyes.
Take that, Chronic Fatigue! God is good!
To all who mourn in Israel he will give:
beauty for ashes;
joy instead of mourning;
praise instead of heaviness.
For God has planted them like strong and graceful oaks for his own glory. Isaiah 61:3 Living Bible
Beauty and joy. Exactly what I need. Thank You, Father!
Today, I choose to see the world with a swirl of curiosity, awe and delight.
