We live within the shadow of the Almighty,
sheltered by the God who is above all gods.
Psalm 91:1 Living Bible (TLB)
Not what you expected? But the truth is we do live in the shadow of the Almighty, not in the shadow of fear and uncertainty. Unless we choose to.
2 This I declare, that he alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I am trusting him. 3 For he rescues you from every trap and protects you from the fatal plague. 4 He will shield you with his wings! They will shelter you. His faithful promises are your armor. 5 Now you don’t need to be afraid of the dark anymore, nor fear the dangers of the day; 6 nor dread the plagues of darkness, nor disasters in the morning.
Bold declaration: nothing, no virus, no danger, can come between our Lord and ourselves. He has this, His plans for us will not fail. We are secure.
14 For the Lord says, “Because he loves me, I will rescue him; I will make him great because he trusts in my name. 15 When he calls on me, I will answer; I will be with him in trouble and rescue him and honor him. 16 I will satisfy him with a full life and give him my salvation.”
Psalm 91: 2-6, 14-16 Living Bible (TLB)
This is His promise: He answers, He comes, He rescues. Even when our faith falters with fear. As Paul says:
Even when we are too weak to have any faith left, he remains faithful to us and will help us, for he cannot disown us who are part of himself, and he will always carry out his promises to us. Living Bible (TLB)
Our fear doesn’t stop Him. Nothing can make Him abandon His own. That is the promise. No matter what shadow we find ourselves under.
The light of God surrounds me,
The love of God enfolds me,
The power of God protects me,
The presence of God watches over me,
Wherever I am, God is,
And where God is, all is well.
My 94-year-old mother lives alone. She has been feeling sorry for herself (who hasn’t?), but tells me that this weekend she turned a corner. “I may be isolated,” she said, “but I’m not alone.” Neither am I.
Neither are you. We all live in the shadow of the Almighty. Remember that, and be at peace.
Your post today is both beautiful and comforting.
I’m so glad. Thank you. Stay comforted. God has you in the palm of his hand.
