“I love you,” I whispered to the cat sleeping in my arms.
If he understood what that meant, what would he say?
**********
“I can believe you love me when we are snuggling like this. I can believe you love me when you give me good food and lots of treats. I can believe you love me when you play with me.
“But,
“If you really loved me, you wouldn’t trap me in a small container, put me in the car and take me to a place that smells of frightened dogs and cats.
“If you really loved me, you wouldn’t let strangers grab me, poke and prod me, and stick needles in me.
“If you really loved me, you wouldn’t force me to swallow pills.
“If you really loved me, you would let me go outside.”
His points are valid – from his perspective.

And then I hear the still, small Voice. “I love you.”
God is too wise to be mistaken,
God is too good to be unkind.
So, when you don’t understand,
When you don’t see His plan,
When you can’t trace His hand,
Trust His heart.
