The women who had come with Jesus from Galilee followed Joseph
and saw the tomb and how his body was laid in it.
*
[They followed faithfully – through everything.]
*
Then they went home and prepared spices and perfumes.
*
[They were from Galilee. So, “home” meant lodgings in Jerusalem.
What they needed to prepare they probably had to buy.]
*
But they rested on the Sabbath in obedience to the commandment.
Luke 23:55-56 NIV
*
[They obeyed, resting and waiting. Grieving.
They couldn’t know that everything would change come morning.]

“O Lord,
on this day, the world was waiting,
like a long winter hoping for spring,
like a dry land awaiting rain.
Still, quiet, in between a world hesitating,
silent hope in a dark place.
We give to You those times in own lives,
where all we can do is wait, when all we hold is hope.
We give you those times when all we have is faith without sight.
Be with all those who today wait in that cold, uncertain place.
Hold them, keep them safe in Your arms, resting in your promise of new life.
Amen.

Holy Saturday.
The best reminder that the silence of God doesn’t equal the absence of God.
