(ideas borrowed from an email dated Nov 19, 2010)
Philosophy is the study of general and fundamental questions about existence, knowledge, values, reason, mind, and language. Cats have their own ideas of what makes for a great life. Just ask them.

Missy: “If you have something to say, say it loud. Why say it if you don’t expect anyone to listen?”
Just what part of meow don’t you understand?
Thomas Chandler Haliburton
Archie: “If you’re not hungry, not thirsty, not uncomfortable, why get up?”
Cats are connoisseurs of comfort.
James Herriot (author All Creatures Great and Small)
From my son’s cats:
Molly: “You don’t need everyone to like you, so long as somebody likes you lots.”
Don’t change so people will like you.
Be yourself and the right people will love the real you.

Miri: “You don’t have to bite or scratch to get what you want. Sometimes it’s enough to get in someone’s face.”
Cats seem to go on the principle
that it never does any harm to ask for what you want.
Joseph Wood Krutch
Merlin: “Anything worth doing is worth doing with the whole cat. A great big mess can be great big fun.”
Cats do not have to be shown how to have a good time,
for they are unfailing ingenious in that respect.
James Mason (actor, North by Northwest)

Zoey: “Purr out loud, purr out strong.”
With one of the most bewitching sounds in the world, its purr,
the cat persuades us that it thinks we are wonderful.
Akif Pirincci
Hunter: “If you need a hug, insist on it. Don’t take ‘no’ for an answer. Use claws if necessary.”
Way down deep, we’re all motivated by the same urges.
Cats have the courage to live by them.

There is, incidentally, no way of talking about cats
that enables one to come off as a sane person.
