Feast

Posted on February 17, 2022February 16, 2022 by Pam R

What is a celebration without a feast?

Your Invitation:

“This is what God’s kingdom is like:
a bunch of outcasts and oddballs gathered at a table,
not because they are rich or worthy or good,
but because they are hungry, because they said yes.
And there’s always room for more.”
Rachel Held Evans

The Present Feast:

You prepare a feast for me in the presence of my enemies.
(Ps 23:5a NLT)

God – the Most Hospitable Host – yearns for all to gather and share the table. (See 2 Peter 3:9 NLT)
So, what if “in the presence of my enemies” means that they are also invited to the feast?

God’s sustaining food and overflowing drink are available to all. Even our “enemies.”

You honor me by anointing my head with oil.

Anointing the head with oil was a mark of respect paid by a host to his guests. (See Luke 7:46)

My cup overflows with blessings.

Thank You, God, for blessing me much more than I deserve.

The Forever Feast:

“Praise the Lord! For the Lord our God, the Almighty, reigns.
Let us be glad and rejoice, and let us give honor to him.
For the time has come for the wedding feast of the Lamb,
and his bride has prepared herself.

And the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding feast of the Lamb.” And he added, “These are true words that come from God.” Revelation 19:6b-7, 9 NLT

‘Come, the banquet is ready.’
Luke 14:17b NLT

“Blessed is the one who will eat at the feast in the kingdom of God.”
Luke 14:15b NIV

There’s a seat reserved for you.
