Aging in Place

Posted on July 21, 2020July 19, 2020 by Pam R

I have created you and cared for you since you were born.
I will be your God through all your lifetime,
yes, even when your hair is white with age.
I made you and I will care for you.
I will carry you along and be your Savior.
Isaiah 46:3b-4 Living Bible

Old age is not a disease – it is strength and survivorship, triumph over all kinds of vicissitudes and disappointments, trials and illnesses. Maggie Kuhn

The great secret that all old people share is that you really haven’t changed in seventy or eighty years. Your body changes, but you don’t change at all. And that, of course, causes great confusion. Doris Lessing

The trick to aging gracefully is to enjoy it.

“Know that you are the perfect age. Each year is special and precious, for you shall only live it once. Be comfortable with growing older.”  Louise Hay

“The belief that youth is the happiest time of life is founded on a fallacy. The happiest person is the person who thinks the most interesting thoughts and we grow happier as we grow older.” William Lyon Phelps

“In spite of illness, in spite even of the archenemy sorrow, one can remain alive long past the usual date of disintegration if one is unafraid of change, insatiable in intellectual curiosity, interested in big things, and happy in small ways.”  ~Edith Wharton

Do not regret growing older; it is a privilege denied to many.

“My physical body may be less efficient and less beautiful in old age. But God has given me an enormous compensation: my mind is richer, my Soul is broader and my wisdom is at a peak. I am so happy with the riches of my advanced peak age that, contrary to Faust, I would not wish to return to youth.”   Robert Muller

I have seen the kinds of tasks God has given each of us to do to keep one busy, and I know God has made everything beautiful for its time.
God has also placed in our minds a sense of eternity;
we look back on the past and ponder over the future,
yet we cannot understand the doings of God.
I know there is nothing better for us than to be joyful
and to do good throughout our lives;
Ecclesiastes 3:10-12 The Voice

I love laugh lines. It means you’ve had a good life.
