The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it.
The world and all its people belong to him.
Psalm 24:1 NLT
… my money.
But He is the Good Father who, while meeting his children’s needs, graciously gives them money to buy a Mother’s Day present.
*****
… my help.
But He is the Good Mother who, while seeing that her children are properly fed, patiently teaches them as they “help” make cookies.
*****
… my abilities. They are all gifts from Him.
But He is the Good Parent who, while guiding and guarding His children, intentionally gives them opportunities to learn and grow.

He doesn’t need anything from me because He has – and He is – everything.
But He is the Eternally Good God, graciously, patiently and intentionally growing each one of us, separately and individually, to be like His Son.
God knew what he was doing from the very beginning.
He decided from the outset to shape the lives of those who love him
along the same lines as the life of his Son.
The Son stands first in the line of humanity he restored.
We see the original and intended shape of our lives there in him.
After God made that decision of what his children should be like,
he followed it up by calling people by name.
After he called them by name, he set them on a solid basis with himself.
And then, after getting them established, he stayed with them to the end,
gloriously completing what he had begun.

God doesn’t need what I have or what I do.
He wants me for who I am:
His chosen and beloved child.
