It was time to replace our old litter box. The cats scratch it so much that odors and germs can live in it, no matter how well or how often it gets cleaned. Besides, it was beginning to crack around the edges.
After exhaustive research, I chose a stainless-steel box. Stainless-steel won’t scratch, won’t harbor germs, and is easily cleaned. Sounds perfect, right?
The cats didn’t care one way or the other. I guess a litter box is just a litter box. But the new pan replaced an enclosed one; they like that much better and it’s quicker to scoop. Definitely a win-win!
So, drunk with success, I decided to replace the water fountain they have used for years. It, too, has been scratched. It, too, is complicated to clean. So why not make a match and get a stainless-steel fountain?
I’ll tell you why not: the cats didn’t like it. We had it for a week and never once did I see either of them drinking from it. In fact, when Jenna tried to coax them over, they looked at it, shied, looked again and walked away. As much as they wanted to please Jenna, it was a very clear “No, Thank You.”
Now, both cats are senior citizens with some of the kidney problems that come with age. So fresh, constant drinking water is a must. Sadly, I packed up the shiny new fountain and replaced it with the old, tired fountain.
The response was immediate. Before I even finished filling it, Hunter was drinking from it from all sides. Then Zoey did the same.
Guess they showed me. Out with the new and in with the old.

That got me thinking: If I respond quickly to my cats’ needs and likes, why do I worry that God won’t respond to mine? I say that I believe God cares about and will meet my needs, but do I really? Perhaps it’s time to:
And then live like it’s true. Because it is.
I am always surprised and happy to see how often Hunter & Zoey point me towards Our Great God.
Me, too!
