So, what do you do when you are waiting, surrounded by enemies, unbelief, storms, death, darkness, fear, and ashes, for your Mayday to be answered?
Don’t fret or worry.
Instead of worrying, pray.
Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers,
letting God know your concerns.
Philippians 4:6 The Message
Easier said than done, right? I’ve never been very good at it.
But it can – it has been – done. This song was born out of a spontaneous moment in worship and prayer as Jonathan and Melissa Helser processed and responded to the news that Jaxon Taylor, son of Bethel Music CEO Joel Taylor, was in a life-threatening situation. Jonathan David Helser recorded what was an almost complete song and sent it to Taylor, which he then repeatedly played, from his phone, for Jaxon in his hospital bed. Over time, Jaxon fully recovered from the sickness.
Perhaps the next time I send a mayday heavenward, I will remember this song. I always have an earworm, and this is a good one to have in times of trouble. And even in the good times.
“I’ll raise a hallelujah…”
