What a wildly wonderful world, God!
You made it all, with Wisdom at your side,
made earth overflow with your wonderful creations.
Psalm 104:24 The Message

Jenna was just opening her drapes for the day when I heard an exclamation.
“What’s going on?” I called.
“Come see,” she replied. I went.
Jenna and Zoey (the cat) were intent upon the ledge outside her window. A squirrel had hopped up and was busy eating a piece of cracked wheat bread.
We stood, transfixed and amazed as the animal daintily nibbled at the crust. And the questions began. How did the bread get there? We don’t eat cracked wheat. And how did the squirrel know it was there? And why this squirrel? From what I’ve seen, other squirrels would have no problem contesting this one’s right to the bread. So where were they?
We had too much to do to spend our day watching a squirrel eat a piece of bread, so reluctantly the people went to do other things. (Zoey had nothing planned, so she stayed where she was.)
When we went back later, the squirrel was gone, and the half-eaten piece of bread was on the ground. I understood – I don’t much like cracked wheat either.

All the creatures look expectantly to you
to give them their meals on time.
You come, and they gather around;
you open your hand and they eat from it.
