In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth …
Then God said, “Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us …
Then God looked over all he had made, and he saw that it was very good!
Genesis 1:1, 26a, 31a New Living Translation
Research show that everyone is creative, which is no surprise, considering Who created us. But we are not all creative in the same way. My grandmother was a brilliant cook and baker: her Christmas cookies were legendary. My sister can turn a dysfunctional office into a well-oiled machine.
Everybody born comes from the Creator trailing wisps of glory.
We come from the Creator with creativity.

I enjoy baseball, but instead of just passively watching this summer, I decided to spend the time to work on crafts. I enjoy the process and love the results (and as my sister says, if my hands are busy, I’m not munching). I collect my supplies and gather my ideas. Those ideas engender other ideas … so many it is hard to choose. I am filled with excitement at the possibilities.
The Lord merely spoke,
and the heavens were created.
He breathed the word,
and all the stars were born. Psalm 33:6 NLT
The creative process is not always so smooth for us. The path is often littered with ideas that didn’t work or didn’t turn out as expected. I have started over more than once. And yet, I find that there is only a short pause between discarding a bad idea and finding a better one.
The call within your soul to create is an invitation from God.

For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. Ephesians 2:10 NLT
So, as one of God’s masterpieces to another, where is your creativity taking you today?
