Our brain accepts what the eyes see,
and our eye looks for whatever our brain wants.
Daniel Gilbert
One day, at the height of a Chronic Fatigue crash, I wanted to watch TV, but couldn’t find the remote. (Remember when there were no remotes? Now we can’t watch TV at all without one!)
So up I got and scoured the room. I looked everywhere, even in places no remote could ever be.
No joy.
Finally, after spending many fruitless and frustrating minutes, I had an idea. The bedroom remote was exactly like the living room remote. Perhaps it would work.
I went, secured that remote, and put it down on the living room table — right next to the one I couldn’t find earlier.
It is not what you see.
It’s what you pay attention to.
