I am not talking about night dreams, that series of thoughts, images and sensations during sleep. Although the Bible speaks of God using dreams to communicate, most of our dreams are a mashup of random brain firings.
I am talking about those intriguing thoughts we all have of what we could do or be, cherished aspirations, ambitions or ideals. You know what I mean: those ideas of the future that are often abandoned by us or stomped on by others. Do you ever wonder where those come from? I suggest that they come from God, and are an invitation to join Him in His work.
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11 New International Version
Seems overwhelming, doesn’t it? But, thank God, we are not in it alone.
So, the dream is from God and the power is from God. And God shows us the path.
What is our contribution? Faith. Because doubt kills more dreams than failure.
What is faith? It is the confident assurance that something we want is going to happen. It is the certainty that what we hope for is waiting for us, even though we cannot see it up ahead. Hebrews 11:1 Living Bible
But these things I plan won’t happen right away. Slowly, steadily, surely, the time approaches when the vision will be fulfilled. If it seems slow, do not despair, for these things will surely come to pass. Just be patient! They will not be overdue a single day! Habakkuk 2:3 Living Bible
And I am sure that God who began the good work within you will keep right on helping you grow in his grace until his task within you is finally finished on that day when Jesus Christ returns. Philippians 1:6 Living Bible
Don’t give up on your dreams, goals
or the gifts God has given you.
They are part of what makes you who you are!
