Lawrence Peter “Yogi” Berra (May 12, 1925 – September 22, 2015) was an American professional baseball catcher, manager and coach. He was known for his malapropisms as well as pithy and paradoxical statements, such as “It ain’t over ’til it’s over” (Said in July 1973, when Berra’s Mets trailed the Chicago Cubs by 9½ games in the National League East). He once simultaneously denied and confirmed his reputation by stating, “I really didn’t say everything I said.”
