When I Pray…

Posted on August 9, 2021August 8, 2021 by Pam R

When I pray, you answer me, and encourage me by giving me the strength I need.  Psalm 138:3 TLB

I place no hope in my strength, nor in my works:
but all my confidence is in God my protector,
who never abandons those who have put all their hope and thought in him.
Francois Rabelais

Hear me, Lord, my plea is just; listen to my cry.
Hear my prayer— it does not rise from deceitful lips. Psalm 17:1 New International Version

To pray is to accept that we are, and always will be,
wholly dependent on God for everything.
Timothy Keller

If my people, who belong to me, humble themselves, pray, seek to please me, and repudiate their sinful practices,
then I will respond from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14 New English Translation

We must lay before him what is in us; not what ought to be in us.
C. S. Lewis

[God says] ‘Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.’
Jeremiah 33:3 NIV

Prayer is not asking.
Prayer is putting oneself in the hands of God, at His disposition,
and listening to His voice in the depth of our hearts.
Mother Teresa

But praises rise to God,
for he paid attention to my prayer and answered my cry to him!
I will forever praise this God who didn’t close his heart when I prayed
and never said no when I asked him for help.
He never once refused to show me his tender love. Psalm 66:19-20 The Passion Translation

Most Christians do not give God a chance to show His delight in granting His children’s petitions;
for their request are so vague and indefinite.
The Kneeling Christian
