The Fourth of July has always meant picnics, parties, flags and fireworks. And this year it means a growing freedom from fear. Thank You, God, for all You have provided for us. May we be mindful of our blessings.
You have to love a nation that celebrates its independence every July 4th,
not with a parade of guns, tanks, and soldiers who file by the White House in a show of strength and muscle,
but with family picnics where kids throw Frisbees, the potato salad gets iffy, and the flies die from happiness.
You may think you have overeaten, but it is patriotism.

Fourth of July also means music to me. This is my favorite arrangement of a very old song that I sang for the first time as a teenager. It still makes me cry (not in a bad way).
And here’s my other favorite Independence Day music. It makes me cry, too. (I guess music makes me cry a lot!)
Okay. Done crying now. Have a relaxing Independence Day.
