This weekend there will be all sorts of Valentine’s Day celebrations. But there will also be a lot of people who feel alone and lonely because they don’t have a “significant other.” Perhaps it’s time to remember the One who loves us perfectly, in every way, at every time.
Here are some of the ways His love is expressed:
“Philia”
Philia is friendship.
“Storge” [“store-jay”]
Storge is a natural form of affection that often flows between parents and their children, and children for their parents.
“Pragma” or Enduring Love
Pragma is a love that has aged, matured and developed. It is a unique harmony that has formed over time.
“Philautia” or Self Love
The Greeks understood that in order to care for others, we must first learn to care for ourselves.
“Agape” or Selfless Love
The highest and most radical type of love according to the Greeks is agape, or selfless unconditional love.
Lord, help us love like we have been loved.
