“Need.” I use that word a lot, but I think I misunderstand it. I looked it up and found:
“A need is something that is necessary for an organism to live a healthy life. Needs are distinguished from wants in that, in the case of a need, a deficiency causes a clear adverse outcome: a dysfunction or death.” (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Need)
Necessary for life? Much of what I consider “necessary” just … isn’t. At this point in time, I am absolutely in no danger of dysfunction or death.
Psychologist Abraham Maslow pictured human needs like this:
But what does God say about our needs?
“Don’t recite the same prayer over and over as the heathen do, who think prayers are answered only by repeating them again and again. Remember, your Father knows exactly what you need even before you ask him! Matthew 6:7-8 Living Bible
I am convinced that my God will fully satisfy every need you have, for I have seen the abundant riches of glory revealed to me through the Anointed One, Jesus Christ! Philippians 4:19 The Passion Translation (TPT)
Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. Hebrews 4:16 New International Version (NIV)
God will feed you what you need for the season you are in.

Keep your lives free from the love of money, and be satisfied with what you have. For God has said, “I will never leave you; I will never abandon you.” Hebrews 13:5 Good News Translation (GNT)
