For you shall go out in joy, and be led back in peace…
Isaiah 55:12a New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)
Yesterday I suggested prayers for the homes of those who are “sheltering in place.” But not everyone can stay home. To those whose jobs provide necessary community support, a big Thank You. We couldn’t get through this without you.
I know you have real concerns. Here are some thoughts to remind you of the true Sheltering Place.
This is the day the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it.
Psalm 118:24 New Living Translation (NLT)
Dear Lord, this is the day you have given me. You know where must I go and what I must do. Help me rejoice and be glad in You all day. Amen.
Do your work willingly, as though you were serving the Lord himself,
and not just your earthly master. In fact, the Lord Christ is the one you are really serving, and you know that he will reward you.
Colossians 3:23-24 Contemporary English Version (CEV)
Lord, it’s true: I work for You! Surely You will help and protect me, because You said You would be with me always [Matthew 28:20] and never leave me or forsake me [Hebrews 13:5]. Amen and amen.
I can do all things [which He has called me to do] through Him who strengthens and empowers me [to fulfill His purpose—I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency; I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him who infuses me with inner strength and confident peace.]
Philippians 4:13 Amplified Bible (AMP)
Lord, You empower me for Your purpose; You supply all I need [Philippians 4:19]. Nothing takes You by surprise; it is safe to trust You. Give me wisdom to meet problems and find solutions. May I not grow weary or fearful but remain clear of mind and filled with Your peace. For my good and Your glory I ask this, Amen.
Beloved,
I say, let your fears go, lest they make you fainthearted.
Stop inspiring fear in those around you
and now take your stand in faith.
God has been good and He will continue to manifest His goodness.
Let us approach these days expecting to see
the goodness of the Lord manifest.
Let us be strong and of good courage,
for the Lord will fight for us if we stand in faith.
