Today is the Vernal Equinox, the First Day of Spring. In Chicago, Illinois, the equinox is on Thursday, March 19, 2020 at exactly 10:49 pm CDT. This is “the moment when the sun appears to cross the celestial equator while tilting towards from the observer.” (Wikionary)
Who knew? The equinox (an awesome Scrabble word, by the way) is just a moment! A blink of the eye. In the space between heartbeats, spring comes. It’s unstoppable.
Spring always brings high expectations. It expands from that single moment, promising growth and renewal. Spring smells like hope, in spite of anything that might be happening in the world. Spring is a “God-sighting.” And it comes to us every year. Without fail.
Think about that. And these other thoughts:
If we had not winter, the spring would not be so pleasant;
if we did not sometimes taste of adversity,
prosperity would not be so welcome.
Anne Bradstreet
Everything may be flavored with adversity right now, but now is not forever. It is just a moment.
The beautiful spring came;
and when Nature resumes her loveliness,
the human soul is apt to revive also.
Harriet Ann Jacobs
Let Spring’s Heavenly gift revive your soul. Even for a moment.
A little madness in the Spring
Is wholesome even for the King.
Emily Dickinson
… and for the Children of the King. Because who has a better reason for delight? Spring brings us Easter and all that Easter means to us!
So savor this season one delicious moment at a time! Because you can.
