Those who live in the shelter of the Most High
will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
This I declare about the Lord:
He alone is my refuge, my place of safety;
he is my God, and I trust him.
Psalm 91:1-2 NLT
“No, Zoey, no.” No, you may not eat my breakfast (dairy makes you sick). No, you may not go into the garage (there are dangerous things in there, things I cannot make safe for you). “No, Zoey.”
“Poor Zoey,” says Jenna. “It’s hard to be a cat.”
“No,” I reply. “Not a well-loved cat with a protective cat-parent.”

And the next time God says “No” to something I want? I hope I remember that I am the well-loved child of a protective Father. There is safety in that knowledge.
