God Planted a Garden.
Then God said, “Let the land sprout with vegetation—
every sort of seed-bearing plant, and trees that grow seed-bearing fruit.
These seeds will then produce the kinds of plants and trees from which they came.”
And that is what happened. The land produced vegetation—
all sorts of seed-bearing plants, and trees with seed-bearing fruit.
Their seeds produced plants and trees of the same kind.
And God saw that it was good.

The Lord God placed the man in the Garden of Eden to tend and watch over it.

And mankind has been tending the garden ever since.
We must cultivate our own garden.
When man was put in the Garden of Eden he was put there so that he should work,
which proves that man was not born to rest.

A garden requires patient labor and attention.
Plants do not grow merely to satisfy ambitions or to fulfill good intentions.
They thrive because someone expended effort on them.

Everything that slows us down and forces patience,
everything that sets us back into the slow circles of nature, is a help.
Gardening is an instrument of grace.

Don’t have a garden of your own? Step outside and find someone else’s.
The best remedy for those who are afraid, lonely or unhappy is to go outside,
somewhere where they can be quiet, alone with the heavens, nature and God.
Because only then does one feel that all is as it should be.
