Busyness

Posted on March 27, 2026 by Pam R

“We have become a nation of thoughtless rushers,
intent on doing before thinking,

and hoping what we do magically works out.
If it doesn’t, we rush to do something else,
something also not well thought-out,

and then hope for more magic.”
Len Holman

Even good things like work, ministry, and responsibilities
can become distractions when they take priority over time with God.

Meanwhile Martha was anxious about all the hospitality arrangements.
Martha (interrupting Jesus): Lord, why don’t You care that my sister is leaving me

to do all the work by myself? Tell her to get over here and help me.
Jesus: Oh Martha, Martha, you are so anxious and concerned about a million details,

but really, only one thing matters.
Mary has chosen that one thing, and I won’t take it away from her.
Luke 10:40-42 The Voice

When we clutter our lives with imagined obligations,
unnecessary activities, and distractions that only kill time,
we dilute the power of our lives.

Anne Katherine

In truth, each of us journeys through life like a shadow.
We busy ourselves accomplishing nothing, piling up assets we can never keep;
We can’t even know who will end up with those things.
In light of all this, Lord, what am I really waiting for?
You are my hope.
Psalm 39:6-7 The Voice

“We have become a culture that glorifies busy,
but there’s great benefit in creating Stillness in your life and reclaiming your time.”

Darcy Luoma

“Be still, be calm, see, and understand I am the True God.
I am honored among all the nations.
I am honored over all the earth.”
Psalm 46:10 The Voice

“In moments of stillness,
the mind sheds its confusion and the heart remembers its peace.”
