Distractions! Everyone has them. But do we see them for what they are: broken focus diverting our attention from what matters? Especially from God? Distractions make us less attentive, productive and effective, and inhibit our ability to live genuinely. Even more so these days.
I have found that lived out, the hardest place to be a Christian is
to be in a nice prosperous country with a lot of entertainment options
because there’s so many distractions.
Philip Yancey
What, then, can we do? The first step to dealing with distractions is recognition. They must be seen for what they are: disturbances, complications, life drainers.
Distractions must be conquered or they will conquer us.
So let us cultivate simplicity; let us walk in the Spirit.
Aiden Wilson Tozer
So, in this season, let’s identify the distractions that keep us from seeking God. And in the identifying, subdue and vanquish them.
Yet amid all these things we are more than conquerors
and gain a surpassing victory through Him Who loved us.
Romans 8:37 Amplified Bible, Classic Edition

Heavenly Father,
In this sacred season of Lent, I lay down my distractions
and lift my eyes to You.
Teach me to seek Your kingdom above all else,
to love You with all my heart, soul, mind, and strength.
When my priorities drift, gently guide me back to Your will.
Help me to trust that in putting You first,
everything else will fall into place according to Your perfect plan.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
