“Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all of the darkness.”

Why then be downcast? Why be discouraged and sad?
Hope in God! I shall yet praise him again.
Yes, I shall again praise him for his help.

Last week, I messaged my doctor to say that there is still no improvement in my blocked ear. Early the next morning, came an answer to prayer: a call from the ENT department. They scheduled an appointment for me with an audiologist and a Physician’s Assistant.
Yesterday, I kept that appointment.
I learned a lot. First, my unaffected (L) ear has totally normal hearing. The (R) ear results are consistent with a blockage.
There is a bone spur on the (R) side. Was I ever hit on the nose? Well, yes. As a child I had a close encounter with a playmate’s head and broke my nose. (Remember that, Mom?)
Further investigation showed no tumor or physical blockage that might be causing this. So, not cancer. (Yes, I wondered and worried.)
Both professionals agreed that the uptick in Chronic Fatigue symptoms may have resulted from the Covid infection, and that this blockage may well be a sequela of Covid, too.
Bottom line, the next treatment is a myringotomy to remove the fluid. It is scheduled for Friday the 15th.
Oddly, I’m looking forward to it.

But, O my soul, don’t be discouraged. Don’t be upset. Expect God to act!
For I know that I shall again have plenty of reason to praise him
for all that he will do. He is my help! He is my God!

“If I truly believe everything that’s in that book, God is in control.
He is in control. He’s working for my good.
Doesn’t mean everything’s going to be smooth,
but that’s all I needed to know.
There is a light at the end of the tunnel.”

This morning, I woke full of peace and joy. That light at the end of my tunnel isn’t a train. It’s faith and hope.

What is faith?
It is the confident assurance that something we want is going to happen.
It is the certainty that what we hope for is waiting for us,
even though we cannot see it up ahead.
