Blessed are those who trust in the Lord
and have made the Lord their hope and confidence.

President Jimmy Carter turns 100 years old today. He has survived metastatic brain cancer, liver cancer and a number of health scares, including brain surgery after a fall in 2019. He entered hospice care in February 2023 yet keeps going. Whatever you may think about his politics and presidency, there is no doubt at all that he has lived out his Faith in front of the world. Here are some quotes.
***
Faith implies a continuing search, not necessarily a final answer.
***
We should live our lives as though Christ were coming this afternoon.
***
“The bond of our common humanity
is stronger than the divisiveness of our fears and prejudices.
God gives us the capacity for choice.
We can choose to work together for peace.
We can choose to alleviate suffering.
We can make these changes and we must remember
that there are many ways to accomplish our goals, together.”
***
I have one life and one chance to make it count for something…
My faith demands that I do whatever I can, wherever I am, whenever I can,
for as long as I can with whatever I have to try to make a difference.
***
God wisely designed the human body so that we can neither
pat our own backs nor kick ourselves too easily.
***
I have never been happier, more exhilarated, at peace, rested, inspired,
and aware of the grandeur of the universe and the greatness of God
than when I find myself in a natural setting not much changed
from the way He made it.
***
Wherever life takes us,
there are always moments of wonder.
***
We’ll never know whether something new and wonderful is possible unless we try.
Let’s scratch our heads, stretch our minds, be adventurous!
Serve God with boldness, and who knows what wonders the Lord may work?
***
Go out on a limb. That’s where the fruit is.
***
Men and women who have lived wisely and well will shine brilliantly,
like the cloudless, star-strewn night skies.
And those who put others on the right path to life will glow like stars forever.
