I will answer them before they even call to me.
While they are still talking about their needs,
I will go ahead and answer their prayers!
Isaiah 65:24 NLT
Nineteen years ago, when it became clear that Barry was dying, I called the cemetery where my grandparents and father are buried. Did they have anything nearby? I needed two plots.
Why, yes, they said. There are two spaces next to those of your grandparents.
Thank You, Lord, I said.
We put Barry in the farther one, leaving the one next to my grandmother for me.

Fast forward to last April. My Aunt Beth wanted to be cremated and interred in her father’s grave, like her brother (my father) was cremated and buried with their mother.
Oh, no, they said. Grandfather is not buried deep enough to do that. They would need a different plot, but there were none available in the same area.

Now we come to the end of June. Beth’s sister, my Aunt Gertrude, passed away and was buried in the plot next to my grandfather. At the grave side, I asked my cousin, August, Beth’s son, where she was buried. Turns out, nowhere yet. The estate is still in probate so the money to buy a new plot is not yet available. And he really doesn’t want to put her away from what is fast becoming a family plot.
No problem, I said. She can bunk in with me.
Where’s your plot? He asked.
You are standing on it, I replied.
So, this week I went to the cemetery and began the process of getting Beth interred with me. There are a few hoops to jump through, but I know that it will come to pass because God has been in this from the beginning.
Thank You, Lord.
I’ll anticipate their prayers and respond before they know it;
even as they speak, I will hear.
