It’s unusual for me to see a Bible promise come true as it is happening. This time, I did.

On January 14, my upstairs neighbor had a pipe burst. Water poured down through the ceiling. Figuring the electrical things were compromised, I found an electrician on the Better Business Bureau site. Yep. Everything must be replaced.
The electrician recommended someone who patches drywall. However, we wouldn’t know the extent of the damage until the damaged drywall was removed. A big job would become huge if there was water-caused structural damage behind ceiling and walls.

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him,
who have been called according to his purpose.

I gave the go ahead, prayed for the best, and filed a claim with my insurance company. Just for, you know, insurance.
Then, my neighbor’s insurance adjuster decided that my damage was an “act of God,” and they were not liable for it. I turned to my insurance people and within a few days had the first monies so I could begin.
Replacing the bathroom fan cost more than the estimate. But behind the drywall was no sign of water damage. That estimate went down.

Moreover, we know that to those who love God,
who are called according to his plan,
everything that happens fits into a pattern for good.
Romans 8:28-30 PHILLIPS

On January 30, the last coat of paint went on. When we install the new light fixtures, I will be whole. I will submit the rest of the costs to the insurance, and it will all be over.

All this doesn’t look much like God “working things together.” It’s pretty much what we’ve come to expect these days. But here’s the thing. My “handyman,” who was skilled at every task, found full-time employment and no longer does “side jobs.” I already found a plumber I trust. Now, because of this disaster, I have an electrician and a “handyman” on speed-dial. I have not just been made “whole.” I have been made better.
Because when God fulfills a promise, that’s what He does.

We are confident that God is able to orchestrate everything
to work toward something good and beautiful
when we love Him and accept His invitation to live according to His plan.
