After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod,
Magi from the east came to Jerusalem and asked,
“Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews?
We saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.”
Matthew 2:1-3 NIV
After they had heard the king, they went on their way,
and the star they had seen when it rose went ahead of them
until it stopped over the place where the child was.
When they saw the star, they were overjoyed.
Matthew 2:9-10 NIV
They looked. They looked up. They saw an unexpected celestial occurrence, A star? Something else? No one knows for sure. But they saw it.
Then they followed. A long, hard, dreary, dangerous journey. Seeking … a baby and a king.
Seeking … and finding.
“The simple shepherds heard the voice of an angel and found their lamb;
the wise men saw the light of a star and found their wisdom.”
Fulton J. Sheen
