He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end. Ecclesiastes 3:11 NIV
We are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We are spiritual beings having a human experience. – Pierre Teilhard de Chardin
From my Journal: An Early Morning in Early Summer
This is the best time of day! I love the treetop dramas enacted daily. Just now I watched a Blue Jay chase off a murder of crows. Birds are fierce when defending home and young. But that ends, doesn’t it, when the young leave the nest.
Not so with humans. With us there is a lifelong commitment to our children and our children’s children. Their joy is our joy, their sorrow our sorrow. I guess this is because we have a sense of eternity about us that animals don’t appear to have. Non-religious people might call it posterity, but I think it stems from the truth that we are eternal beings having a temporal experience.

I am a widow with a grown daughter and son. This blog is the child of a encouragement card ministry I led, initially for cancer patients/survivors, but expanding to anyone who needed encouragement. While a worthy effort and people enjoy receiving real mail, there were flaws in this approach. First, I lost track of people who moved. Second, there was no possibility of dialog or feedback. Third, were the letters even being read? And finally, the cost of cards, ink and postage continues to go up.
I decided, with some trepidation, to enter the 21st century. A lifetime of journals, stories, poems and writings offer opportunities for sharing. A lifetime of Bible study informs my writing.
Here then, are notes from my own journey with glimpses of God and eternity along the way.
